Off of the Saint Johns Wart on February 2nd

After several months I have decided to stop taking Saint Johns Wart. My mood is fine and I am sleeping about 6 hours a night again. It’s nice because while I am on Saint Johns Wart I need 8-9 hours of sleep.

My mood is fine. We had robot club tonight and the boys were very hyper and I didn’t get grumpy at all.

So for next year February 2nd is the stop date. That stuff got me through the winter.

I’ve always been extremely healthy, but over the last couple of years my knees started popping and I started getting severe sinus issues…

I think that for some reason I stopped drinking very much water.

I know a lot of people believe that running helps with allergies. I am starting to think that running makes you drink water and I think drinking water is what helps with the allergies.

Over the last week or so I have been writing about how I think kneeling in a way where your knees are on a hard surface for a few minutes a day could be good for the knees. I have been trying it. Well, I can now get on my knees and it doesn’t hurt at all. In addition I went running and my knees don’t hurt any more.

I have been told by a lot of people that as one ages the knees just naturally go bad. I started experience sore knees. A few weeks ago it started getting really hard to do simple tasks like tie my shoes.

I started wondering how Muslims and Catholics do it. When I was a kid my grandma used to take me to a catholic church where people would get on their knees, then sit down, then stand up over and over again. I remember people in their 70s doing it.

So I have tried getting on my knees for a few minutes a day for about a week. I get down on the hard wood floor and sometimes I even make the motions like the Muslims. I can feel my knee caps shift a little under my weight.

My knees are feeling A LOT better, especially when I run.

Migraine Headaches

So every few weeks I get what I consider to be migraine headaches.  They started when I was about 18 years old.  They start off as a pain right behind my eyes and they slowly get worse as the day progresses.  They end about 5 hours later with light sensitivity and throwing up that eventually leads to dry heaving.  This is followed by the best sleep ever.

Here’s what I think happens.  I think the tolerances in my nasal cavity are very tight.  I suspect when the different parts that make up the boundaries of my nasal cavity swell by even a small amount my headaches start and then as the headaches start the different parts that make up my nasal boundaries start to get agitated and swell too.  Eventually, the swelling recedes and my brain gets smaller and that’s when the puking starts.

As the years have gone by my blood pressure has gone up, I have gotten fat, my life is a lot more complicated, and I have gotten sensitive to pollen.  All of these things have led to the tolerances in my nasal cavity getting smaller.

I have found that the best treatment depends of the stage of the headache.  If I catch it really early then a naproxen will usually do it.  If I catch it before the brain size going down then a good run or swim will do it.  If I catch it when the brain size is going down then a good bit of stress will fix it.

1) The naproxen causes swelling to go down so it fixes the nasal tolerances issues.

2) The running/swimming works because it attacks two sides of the problem.  First, it removes any foreign matter in my sinuses.  Second, it relieves pressure.

3) The stress.  The stress causes my brain to swell back to its original size and then it seems to recede back to a normal size at a less painful rate.  I have never been able to do this on purpose.  It’s usually been something breaking and then I had to fix it.  The original breaking causes the brain to swell right up and then the slow process of fixing the broken item causes the headache to go away.

I have had sinus head-aches for about 20 years and they are terrible. I have found two things that help a lot.

The first is sucking water up my nose. I hold some water in the palm of my hand and suck it up my nose. It’s really hard to do and my head has a sharp pain when I do it, but then everything clears out and my head ache goes away. I have found that only 1 in 4 people seem to be capable of doing this. Some people just can’t do it. Some people seem to have a different configuration in their head and the water doesn’t drain out. It helps me a lot.

The second is running. I don’t understand why, but my sinuses are EMPTY after a good run. Absolutely no head-ache or discomfort.

This isn’t a home remedy but…

I have always had terrible head aches.  The veins on my head swell and I throw up.  It’s terrible.  Naproxen stops my head aches in their tracks.

Oil of Oregano comes through again…

So I have become very paranoid of skin infection.  I have heard about about three cases of people having tiny little cuts turn into swollen legs or even worse amputation.

I had a little cut and it started to get infected.  The infection got worse and worse.  I put a couple of drops of oil of oregeno for three days in a row and it was gone!

Another Home Remedy

OK I know that home remedies are by default weird and that very few people are willing to try them.  This one is definitely weird and I have to share my experience.

OK so about 5 years ago Lex woke up one morning with 1/2 inch diameter pussy sore.  It had two little bite marks in the middle.  I thought it was no big deal…

About 24 hours later the sore had a 2 inch diameter and the very middle looked really horrible, kind of like it was rotting away.

We decided that Lex needed to go to the emergency room, but I stayed home with Rod and searched the Internet for any clues as to what it might be.  Eventually I ran across brown recluse bites.  What I found scared the heck out of me (look it up and you will see some horrible pictures of people skin and muscle rotting).  According to the pictures people were going from a 1/2 inch sore to a massive chunk of muscle missing in less than a week.

I spent the next two days searching with every search engine I could find and I found a single entry on a forum and it was something like:

My wife had two brown recluse bites on her back.  I put a single drop or oil of oregano on the sores.  It was gone the next day.

I was completely desperate because Lex was getting the exact treatment that people were describing on forums and it wasn’t working for the people online and it wasn’t working for Lex.

We bought some oil of oregano the next day as a health food store.  It was very expensive a 2 oz bottle was like $30.  We put a couple of drops on his 3 inch sore and he said it was burning.  The sore started healing by the next morning.

I read some more about oil of oregano and what it does for me is it stops infections immediately.  Whenever I get a splinter or anything that causes puss (any foreign object in my body) I put a drop of oil of oregano in the sore and the infection goes away.  Usually the foreign object can be easily removed.

Cure for dandruff

I heard cheap a cure for dandruff about 20 years ago on the radio and I have used it several times to cure my dandruff.  I know this will seem very weird but I take mouthwash and fill a cup with it.  Then I dip my comb into the mouthwash and comb my hair with the wet comb.  I repeat until I can feel mouthwash on my scalp.  I do this right before bed.  I wash my hair in the morning.  I keep the comb in the cup and do this every night.  After 3-5 days all of the dandruff is gone.  It usually stays gone for a couple of years.
